A Distant Plain brings the COIN Series to modern Afghanistan, placing 1–4 players in the tangled realities of post-9/11 conflict. A swift invasion gives way to a long, complex struggle, where shifting loyalties, regional politics, and insurgency turn a seemingly straightforward mission into something far more intricate.
Players take on one of four factions—Coalition, Government, Taliban, or Warlords—each with its own goals, strengths, and internal tensions. Cooperation is often necessary, but never simple, as competing priorities and fragile alliances shape every decision. Whether stabilising the country, rebuilding influence, or resisting control, each faction must navigate a landscape where military power alone is never enough.
