A tarot-driven story game of novice witches, urban exploration and teenage drama for solo & shared-world play. It’s a bubbling cauldron of simple rules and writing prompts, stirred together to produce the story of a teenage witch spending a year away from home in an unfamiliar city called Koriko.
Congratulations! You’re Koriko’s new resident witch!
From your trusty tarot deck, you’ll draw the events that comprise each season of your first year on the job. Between arcane responsibilities, you’ll explore, collect artifacts, and meet the city’s residents. Make new friends, learn about yourself as you learn about others. Write home to your mentor or write to your fellow witches. Your life is chill, contemplative, and charming. Tend your tower of dice, stacking them and shaping their uncertainty into your very own coming-of-age tale.
Koriko: A Magical Year is playable homage to media like Kiki’s Delivery Service (the film and the book). Choose to go forth in solitary or play asynchronously with friends, all of you witches from the same town, all of you navigating your lives in different cities, sharing news, updates, and stories with one another.
In addition to the book, you'll need:
- A tarot deck, with the minor and major arcana.
- 21 standard six-sided dice, all roughly the same size, to stack into a tower.
- A journal or somewhere else to write your story.
